【淫歌喉爛】OBSCENE SONGS ROTTED THE THROAT
蘇城林阿秀喜唱淫歌邪曲。喉生乳鵝，腐爛而死。道光元年九月事情 Lin A-Xiu of Su [Suzhou?] liked to sing obscene songs and evil ballads.Milk Geese* sprung in his throat. They putrefied and he died. This happened in the 9th month of the prime year of Daoguang (1821)
淫詞豓曲本荒唐。
Licentious poems and Gaudy ballads, all are in vain.
何事癡人習學忙。
Why, to learn them, do these fools train?
病人咽喉能唱否。
Can this sick one's throat sing or not?
可憐張口痛殀亡
All I can do is gasp, and die in pain.
臨死時尚作張口床狀，為想開心枉送性命
This poem was gasped out as he lay on his deathbed, thinking on how, for the sake of pleasures, he gave away his life.
